Atlanta is a city filled with history and plenty of sports. It’s a traditional big city that a lot of people enjoy.
But for those coming into Atlanta, there’s plenty more to do than just catch an Atlanta Falcons game or a Hawks basketball contest. There are things to do for all ages and all kinds of people.
I’m a fan of history. I minored in it in college and have visited countless museums in the last few years. Fortunately for me, and my area of study in regards to history, there are plenty of museums to check out in Atlanta if I ever get the chance to go there.
But for those of you planning on making a trip to Atlanta, let this be your guide for some things to do in the vicinity. Here are three things to do in the Atlanta area the next time you plan a day trip, or a vacation.
College Football Hall of Fame
Okay, I know I said that Atlanta can’t be just considered a sports town and that museums are awesome. This is the combination of both worlds, and it looks absolutely spectacular. College football dates back to the early 20th century. There’s so much history to learn in all aspects of the sport.
Who doesn’t like a good aquarium? It’s not only a good place to relax after a long day, but to also get an up-close and personal look at the exotic kinds of fish that are on display. It’s a great place to take the kids, especially your little ones that have grown to an interest in the aquatic life and want to be a marine biologist one day.
Center for Civil and Human Rights
My minor in history came with an expertise in African-American history. I have always been fascinated in seeing how people of all races came to leave their mark in the United States, including those I learned about in college. This museum is designed for people of all ages and races to learn about the battle for civil rights. It looks like an outstanding exhibit.
